We’ve hosted many a reread here at Tor.com, but one of our favorites is Jared Shurin’s look at K.J. Parker’s The Folding Knife!

Parker is known for being a mysterythe author’s identity has never been revealedand the book itself upholds this dedication to complication. Eschewing a traditional beginning, middle, and end, the novel instead spirals out into “a hundred little hints and tricks and repetitions and nods and winks and nudges” that make it endlessly fun to dig into.

Shurin has a great time analyzing the book’s sharp wit, haunting themes, and general zig-zagginess, and anyone new to the book and the reread is in for a great time. Check out the reread index here!
